CeX is rolling out its successful buy-and-sell concept and is looking for area and master franchisees now

CeX was founded in 1992 in London. The best ideas are often the simplest and the most profitable: CeX takes the buy-and-sell concept and updates it by trading in digital entertainment products. CeX retail stores buy, sell and exchange mobile phones, games, computers and digital electronics directly to and from the public.

What separates CeX from wider buy-and-sell retailers is execution. We trade in a focused, yet complementary product range. The brand is publicly acclaimed in the UK as a technology and entertainment specialist. CeX has developed a set of bespoke computer systems that simplify the process of buying and selling. Goods are tested before they are bought in and then resold with a warranty, offering customers great value for money and peace of mind. A best in class, fully transitional website solicits orders 24/7 and seamlessly shares these out amongst the retail stores to fulfill, further boosting income.

Today there are more than 500 CeX stores worldwide operating in eleven territories across four continents from the UK to Australia. The majority of our stores are franchised and new stores are opening every week.

Area development agreements and master franchises

CeX operates franchise stores in the UK, Ireland and Spain. In 2014 we launched an extremely successful master franchise partnership in Mexico. This illustrates our commitment and strength to adapting to markets globally. We are looking for experienced retail operators to partner with us and share our success globally. Opportunities have opened for area development agreements and master franchises. We are also seeking single unit franchise growth in our existing operating territories.

Our goal is to be the leading worldwide retailer of second-hand digital entertainment products. CeX is looking to partner with experienced masters and area developers across the world.

Where is CeX looking to franchise?

With 25 years of experience operating in 11 countries across four continents, CeX believes that the model will work everywhere with the right partners and so all locations are currently being considered. Recently CeX has launched stores in Australia, Italy, Portugal and Poland and is currently developing further sites for corporate stores, while starting the process of beginning to franchise these locations. Area development agreements in these locations represent a fantastic opportunity as much of the initial development and learning has already been done.

The Opportunity

Following an extensive training and approval process, CeX will open a small number of stores within the country alongside the approved master. This serves to deliver further our training and direct support. A support network is just part of the partnership and helps to cement the ongoing relationship between the Master and CeX. We believe this is something that differentiates CeX from other franchisors. With our investment in the Master’s territory, we ensure the optimum support for growth and success across territory.

As a potential CeX master franchisee you have:

  • A track record of business management of medium to large national businesses
  • A desire to grow the brand via multiple outlets and the financial means to do so
  • An existing business infrastructure that could support the development, or the experience and ability to create this
  • Good local knowledge, relationships and expertise in the areas of real estate, government and labour regulations
  • Franchise marketing, sales and recruitment experience and knowledge of our key product lines
  • Individuals willing to complete six-nine months training in the UK, or Europe
