This will be the first store in the Hawkeye state for the international retail franchise.
Metal Supermarkets, the international metal convenience store franchise with 90-plus locations throughout the U.S., U.K., and Canada, will soon open its first brick-and-mortar location in Iowa as Meta Supermarkets Cedar Rapids welcomes customers from August 3.
The new store will be owned by Rick Heller, a Cedar Rapids native and a long-time leadership figure in the IT industry.
“Our newest store in Cedar Rapids helps expand our growth in the American Midwest and will be our first location in the Hawkeye state,” said Stephen Schober, president and CEO of Metal Supermarkets. “We look forward to providing customers in the Cedar Rapids area with our full array of products and services as well as speed and convenience when purchasing metals.”
The brand serves a wide variety of customers with access to any metal, cut to size and ready fast, with no minimum order quantities. Types of metal available include hot-rolled steel, cold-rolled steel, stainless steel and aluminum in a selection of shapes such as bars, tubes, and sheets.
“We have a very active manufacturing and metalworking base in Cedar Rapids and have already received inquiries from local businesses and consumers. We are excited to help customers get the exact metal they need quickly,” said Heller. “The accessibility to our store was a key factor in determining where we put down our roots. We are right next to the largest interstate in Iowa, I-380, and are just a few minutes away from the airport. We are in a convenient and accessible location to service anyone in need of metal products, either at our store or through regular, local deliveries.”
