The fascinating back story to our brand sees our founder Arthur Withers traveling the southern states of the U.S.A., seeking out new tastes and ideas for what, back then, was the burgeoning concept of fast food.

The U.S.A. was well ahead of us and fast food had yet to truly arrive in the U.K., so it made sense to visit its birthplace for inspiration. Arthur understood that this unique taste, coupled with its innovative cooking process, was something that the U.K. market would embrace and he decided to introduce this to his already growing business. After a trip along the Mississippi in a paddle steamer, the brand was born.

A FAMILY LEGACY

The story continued with Andrew, Arthur’s son and now our owner and chairman, who recognized Southern Fried Chicken for what it is: a fast-food franchise. His vision was to expand the business across the globe, and his drive led the brand to open restaurants in locations as diverse as Mongolia and Martinique, Almaty and Bournemouth.

Southern Fried Chicken is committed to the success of our franchisees like Zaki Marstani in Bournemouth. Throughout our 14-year partnership with Zak, we have been on hand to support, train, and help to develop his business as well as listening and learning from his experience.

“Our success is down to our shared commitment with our franchisees to deliver great food, fast”

We share best practices across our estate and develop the best ideas for the success of all our partners. Zak’s commitment to hard work and continuing enthusiasm for the brand and his own business is a great example of what we look for in a franchisee. Zak is keen on expanding his empire and has plans to open a second location later this year.

Could you join Zak and become a Southern Fried Chicken franchisee? You need the right ingredients, a pinch of F&B experience, a helping of management skills, and bags of energy and enthusiasm. In return for this and a financial commitment, you get the unrivaled support of over 50 years of experience from hands-on operators plus assistance with identifying a location, store design, core equipment, installation, branded ingredients and packaging, on-site training from your operations manager, marketing support pre and post the opening to launch your business to success and ongoing operational support and auditing from your dedicated ops team member.

Our success is down to our shared commitment with our franchisees to deliver great food, fast. Great quality ingredients prepared by trained chefs cooked following our process can be relied upon to deliver great-tasting food, our menu consists of delicious Southern Fried Chicken as pieces or in wraps or sandwiches. Great tasting burgers, freshly cooked fries, salads, and a range of drinks and desserts, all sourced locally.
