Russo’s New York Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen sign multi-unit deal in Qatar

The Texas-based fast-casual brand has had its eyes trained on the region and sees it as a key market

Russo’s New York Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen has announced the signing of a multi-unit franchise agreement in Qatar for five locations. The founder, Anthony Russo, wants to introduce Qataris to original family recipes from Naples and Sicily with the use of fresh ingredients and the New York-style, hand-tossed pizzas.

Authentic Italian cuisine will also be available, ranging from pasta to calzones as well as delis, sandwiches, soups and desserts. The brand will also make use of Halal toppings to comply with local tastes and culture.

The first location is planned to open in November 2022, just ahead of the opening of the FIFA World Cup. It will be situated in the Doha Oasis mixed-use district.

“We’re thrilled to grow our international footprint and showcase our elevated fast-casual dining experience in Qatar, an incredibly exciting global market that I have become very fond of,” said Russo.

“We are honored to have the support of our new Qatari franchisee. And opening just ahead of the World Cup is the perfect opportunity to grow brand awareness among an influential, global audience.”

Russo’s New York Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen was established in 1992 in Houston, Texas. The brand has grown considerably since and now has 27 franchisees and 50 locations across the U.S. Russo’s also has eight international locations across Dubai and South Africa.
