German Doner Kebab reinforces operations team with two new appointments 

Nick Scovell has been brought on as director of operations, while Michael Biggins has been made director of strategic initiatives

German Doner Kebab has announced two appointments made to the operations team to help support the brand’s growing ambitions. Nick Scovell will take over Michael Biggins as the director of operations, while Biggins will take on the role of director of strategic initiatives.  

“We are delighted to be welcoming Nick to the GDK family and wish Michael all the best in his new role,” said Imran Sayeed, CEO of German Doner Kebab. 

“Nick is a strategic thinker and has an abundance of experience that will help him excel in the role of director of operations. Likewise, Michael has a wealth of wisdom and knowledge that he can bring to his new role and aid our growth ambitions. 

“They both will be instrumental in scaling our offering and will further reinforce GDK as a game-changing brand of the future.” 

Scovell joins German Doner Kebab from LEON Restaurants, where he was the head of franchise. He led growth strategies and scale planning across the U.K. and for international openings. He has over 20 years’ experience in commercial and operational roles in bluechip organizations, and has even worked with Giraffe Restaurants and Pizza Hut. 

“I am looking forward to joining GDK as their director of operations,” said Scovell. 

“We have a wonderful team of highly experienced individuals, and I am excited to continue forging ahead with our ambitious growth plans and build a brand that responds to the Gen Z and millennial audience.” 

Biggins will work closely with U.K. managing director, Sofia Dimen, to develop the U.K. business and brand support as well as driving systemwide operations excellence. He has extensive experience working in the restaurant industry, from quick service to family dining. Biggins has experience with the likes of McDonald’s, Metromedia Restaurant Group and IHOP. 

“It is great to take on the responsibility of director of strategic initiatives at such a key phase in GDK’s global growth plans,” said Biggins. 

“I’ve gained a wealth of experience working with GDK and I will bring all I have learnt into my new role. 

“With Nick’s industry knowledge and impressive track record with LEON restaurants, I have no doubt that he is the perfect candidate to take on the role of director of operations at GDK.”
