Franchisors talk recruitment in this period of uncertainty

As part of a recent feature, Global Franchise spoke to several leading franchises about how COVID-19 is affecting their recruitment strategies and the ways in which they are adapting their approach to cater to an increasingly at-home audience.

“Despite the current circumstances, we see a unique opportunity for franchise development and growth,” said Craig Sherwood, chief development officer for Gold’s Gym. “With lenders and landlords anxious to do deals with qualified franchisees, we believe the time is ideal for new franchise development with both existing and new franchisees.”

McDonald’s Australia to start selling grocery essentials in Drive-Thru

McDonald’s Australia recently announced that it would be selling essential groceries to customers who may not be able to obtain certain items during the coronavirus pandemic. Items include English muffins and gourmet bread rolls, as well as full cream and skimmed milk.

“From Wednesday onwards, in addition to our usual Macca’s menu, customers will also be able to pick up two- or three-liter bottles of full cream or skim milk, as well as packs of English muffins and gourmet bread rolls,” said McDonald’s Australia in a statement obtained by Yahoo Lifestyle.

“Our contactless service removes any need for touch contact between our employees and customers, making it a safe way for people to get food and drinks, as well as these essential basics.”

School of Rock hosts virtual Artist Sessions

School of Rock has begun augmenting its newly launched School of Rock Remote program with exclusive access to famous rock stars. The sessions are giving students live daily online tutorials and Q&As, with musicians from Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper, Guns N’ Roses, Beyonce and Stevie Wonder lined up to feature next.

Each session lasts for an hour, features artists from various genres and currently available to enrolled students at no additional cost.

Rob Price, CEO of School of Rock, said: “We know everyone at home is looking for ways to engage and explore. That’s why we are collaborating with world-class artists to provide our students with an intimate opportunity to connect.

“We put the word out and the response has been incredible. I am particularly proud that our team is using this opportunity to advance the cause of suicide prevention.”

Professional musicians participating in Artist Sessions are also donating their time and helping to raise awareness for School of Rock’s philanthropic partner, the Society of Prevention of Teen Suicide.
