Edible opens first ghost kitchen, bringing in more than $130,000 in its first week

Off the back of a strong 2020, the dipped fruit treats brand is looking to open 40 new locations this year.

Edible, part of the Edible Brands family with more than 1,000 locations serving dipped treats and fresh fruit arrangements worldwide, has embraced the delivery revolution and opened its first ghost kitchen unit in Tucker, Georgia.

At 1,700 square feet, this new site serves as a delivery-only location for Edible, with other virtual brands to be tested there also. The site opened February 6, 2021, and within its first week brought in more than $130,000 in sales, as well as providing jobs to the local community.

“Edible continues to be a disruptor in the industry and it is amazing to see the fresh innovation with every new category,” said Patricia Perry, vice president of franchise development.

“Valentine’s Day is an exciting time for our brand and it was an especially memorable holiday this year, paired with the launch of our ghost kitchen. After the rise in sales our stores experienced throughout 2020, it was delightful to see that continue into the first major holiday in 2021 and the busiest time for our brand.”

In 2020, Edible signed agreements for 141 new stores, and celebrated 46 of its locations achieving million-dollar status. Always on the lookout for growth, the brand is planning upward of 40 new openings this year, with the planned signing of a further 160 franchise agreements.

The current growth markets that Edible has identified in the U.S. include Alabama, Alaska, Northern California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming.

Internationally, Edible is continuing to seek franchisees in Canada, China, Europe, India, Mexico, the Middle East, and Pakistan.
