Global burger chain Carl’s Jnr has opened its first outlet in Nicaragua. The new store – located in the Metrocentro Mall, in the capital city of Managua – is operated by Delipollo corporation’s Deli Star. The Galerias Mall has been selected for a second opening in the fall of this year. Opening day inducement for the first 50 guests was a free meal and discount card. Martin Rosales of Delipollo said, “We’re honored to introduce this prestigious global burger chain to our country and look forward to expanding its reach across Nicaragua. Nicaragua not only has a fast-growing middle class but also a booming youth population, both of which seek fresh, craveable, high-quality food. Carl’s Jr., with its affordably priced better burgers and other innovative menu items, is poised to bring a superior quick-service dining experience to Nicaragua.”

South America is seen as an important franchise market by Carl’s Jnr’s parent company, CKE Restaurants, Inc. Ron Coolbaugh, CKE’s senior vice president of international franchise operations, said “Growth in Latin America is a key strategic priority for our company. We have over 300 restaurants in the region and have signed development commitments to build close to another 200 Carl’s Jr. locations. We are very excited to open in Nicaragua today to fill the market’s void for premium burgers. We’re confident that Deli Star, with their 50-year heritage and unparalleled restaurant expertise under the Delipollo umbrella, will help us to set a solid foundation in this country as we expand.”
