GYMGUYZ launches first six U.K. locations

With fitness changing in a COVID world, at-home workouts are now on the rise

With fitness changing in a COVID world, at-home workouts are now on the rise.

GYMGUYZ, the personal training fitness franchise offering at-home workouts for its clients, has announced the opening of its first six U.K. locations as it builds up an international presence. Currently, the boutique workout brand has 250 units worldwide, with the majority situated in the States.

The six U.K. locations are positioned around the country, serving clients in Brighton, Kingston upon Thames, Elstree and Borehamwood, Barnet, St Albans, and Watford.

The first of these to come on board was Brighton, overseen by owner Laura Plaster. Prior to joining GYMGUYZ, Plaster was a special constable for the Metropolitan Police.

“I loved the idea of bringing the success GYMGUYZ has achieved in the U.S. and Canada over to the U.K. and being part of it from the start,” said Plaster. “No one else is really doing what GYMGUYZ does. It’s a unique model and with a low minimum investment; I saw it as a more attractive opportunity in comparison to the traditional fitness franchises.”

The Brighton location was followed by Kingston, led by sports exercise expert Victoria Deborah.

“I was looking for something different that solves a problem in the U.K. fitness market. Therefore, when the idea of GYMGUYZ was pitched to me, it was perfect,” said Deborah. “The growth prospects of not only the team, but also the franchise, were an integral factor and something that attracted me to invest. I can’t wait to see how the trainers develop into their roles and to deliver transformations for their clients, and I’m excited to see the franchise expand over the coming months.”

After the ball got rolling for GYMGUYZ’s U.K. growth, Selina Mantori, the wife of GYMGUYZ U.K. master franchisee Laike Mantori, launched the business in Elstree and Borehamwood, St Albans, Barnet, and Watford.

“As my husband is the master franchisee, I have been quite involved with the brand and quickly recognized the benefits on how it fits in with my lifestyle and decided that becoming a franchisee was a great opportunity,” said Selina. “GYMGUYZ offers flexible hours, low fees and running costs with high returns. It was a no brainer for me.”

Laike Mantori is confident that these first few locations are a sign of things to come for GYMGUYZ, commenting: “We have ambitious plans for the U.K. and with our first locations now ready, we are excited for what the brand can offer to all its communities. As we continue to redefine the personal training industry, we look forward to expanding across the country with new franchise opportunities.”
