Franchises in the Americas Regional Champion category have proved their work to lead the market is simply exemplary. But the entry that spoke volumes about its winning franchise model was Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill + Bar.

One of the world’s largest casual dining brands, Applebee’s offers guests a lively dining experience that combines timeless, craveable American fare with classic drinks and local drafts.

Applebee’s has 1,674 franchised restaurants in the United States, two U.S. territories and eight countries outside the United States (November 2022), including Panama, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Guatemala, Brazil, Dominican Republic and Bahrain.

Celebrating success

After receiving the Regional Champion: Americas Award, Tony Moralejo, president of Applebee’s, shared: “We are excited, honored and grateful to receive an award among our peers for what is truly the essence of franchising, which is the relationship between the franchisor and the franchisee. It’s a pinnacle achievement!

“I think what stood out for Applebee’s globally is that we had a tremendous year in terms of our financial performance, both domestically and internationally. We had some incredible marketing campaigns, we launched some amazing new culinary products around the world. It was truly an excellent year for the Applebee’s brand.

“We opened 10 restaurants globally throughout the year. Most of those actually occurred internationally. We had a partnership with Tom Cruise in Top Gun. We had partnerships with the NFL with respect to football games throughout the year, we launched new products, desserts, burgers, chicken sandwiches, etc. So again, an incredible 2022!

“2023 is all about continuing our sales momentum. And we’re looking to grow and double the number of restaurants that we opened in the previous year.”
