School of Rock opens new Milford location

On top of a new school opening, the brand is looking forward to seeing its students perform at the Rock in Rio festival

School of Rock has announced the opening of its newest location in Milford, Connecticut. A grand opening will take place at 213 Cherry Street, Milford, CT 06460, from 2 PM to 5 PM EST, on Friday, June 17. There will be student performances, a pizza truck, a raffle, school tours, meet and greet and much more.

“Heidi Rogers and Kurt Koehler are exactly the type of people we look for to lead a School of Rock franchise,” said Rob Price, CEO of School of Rock.

“They are passionate about their community and eager to provide opportunities for students to further their music education. I look forward to watching School of Rock Milford grow as their students thrive.”

The Milford location is owned by Heidi Rogers and Kurt Koehler. Heidi plays bass and Kurt plays guitar, the co-owners are long-time musicians. Kurt experienced the School of Rock brand, when he was a student for six years and played in a band with other students. Heidi has seen the brand through her son’s eyes, who has been a student at the Fairfield location for six years. They both understand the benefits of musical education and want to bring it to their community.

“We are thrilled to be able to provide opportunities for the community to learn and perform music in a safe, inclusive, fun, and enriching environment,” said Kurt.

“There is almost no better way to develop confidence, resilience and problem-solving skills than through music education and performance. Add to that the joy of friends and family watching the truly amazing progress, and the musical and developmental results are absolutely magical.”

School of Rock bands will be performing at the Rock in Rio festival in Lisbon, Portugal this month. The students will be able to perform on a special stage that has been created to showcase the diversity of rock music. 32 bands from School of Rock locations around the world will perform at the festival.

“At School of Rock, we know one of the most inspiring ways to create a lifelong love of learning is getting the taste of live performance at world-class venues,” said Price.

“It is thrilling to have our talented students featured alongside global superstars at one of the world’s top festivals.”

The brand will open its first Lisbon location this summer.
