Alisdair was appointed executive director of the European Franchise Federation in 2021. Based in Brussels since 1997, he has advised companies and trade associations on political campaigns and engagement in both the UK and EU legislative environments. He has over 15 years’ experience working with retailers and that has included overturning the payment card monopoly at EU level, by reducing interchange fees on transactions both in-store and online. Alisdair also helped bring about a reform of the EU's trade defence instrument regime following a series of trade disputes between the EU and China.
